Our Projects

Drive Electric Connecticut
Turning education, partnerships, and planning into action. Drive Electric Connecticut is building the relationships, knowledge, and local capacity needed to accelerate transportation electrification across the state. Through consumer education, community engagement, EV charging planning, fleet support, dealer partnerships, and collaboration with utilities and government leaders, the initiative is helping move Connecticut from EV awareness to real-world adoption.

Leaf Peeping EV Road Trip
The Leaf Peeping EV Road Trip is a two-day scenic fall adventure bringing together community, history, beautiful autumn landscapes, and the fun of the open road. Day One begins in Norwalk, and Day Two begins in North Canaan, with a series of community-hosted stops and events along the route. Participants can experience historic roads, visit local communities, enjoy spectacular fall foliage, and connect with others at each destination.

Municipal EV Readiness Toolkit
Our 12-week and 9-month Municipal EV Readiness Toolkit Programs provides local governments with actionable blueprints, model zoning regulations, and training modules to accelerate electric vehicle adoption. 64 municipalities participated in the 2020 Municipal l EV Readiness Program. View our program report here.

EV Zoning Regulations
EV zoning regulations address some of the public charging barriers we have documented in our research, and support a safe and positive charging experience that will lead to increased EV adoption. Many communities are interested in having EV zoning regulations, but it can be a difficult process. Many zoning commissions like to learn from and adopt regulations from neighboring communities. Our Clean Cities and Communities Coalition is reaching out to all zoning commissions in Fairfield County, Connecticut to identify model EV zoning regulations. We invite all Fairfield County zoning boards and commissions, as well as staff, to share feedback with us on what you believe are ideal EV zoning regulations. We are also available to meet by phone or on Zoom. Please contact us at 203 536 4695 or email daphne@livegreenct.org to collaborate on the development of model EV zoning regulations.

Charging Smart
Working with partners across the country, the Charging Smart program is helping local governments become leaders in EV deployment.
Municipalities play an important role in establishing policies, procedures, and programs that impact the deployment of electric vehicle charging equipment in their communities. By expediting the installation of EV charging stations, local governments help make EV charging more accessible for residents and businesses.
With free expert technical assistance, Charging Smart supports communities in adopting procedures and policies that make a difference, thereby advancing the growth of EVs across the country

Electric School Bus Toolkit
Our Electric School Bus Toolkit offered two programs aimed to educate school district decision makers on the benefits of transitioning to electric school buses. The program included guest speakers on funding, technology, infrastructure, case studies, and more.
Workplace Charging
The EMPOWER project supports the expansion of workplace EV charging (WPC) across Connecticut and beyond. Through partnerships with local organizations, municipalities, and businesses, EMPOWER helps make electric vehicle adoption more practical by increasing access to charging where people work.
